Panel 1:
We're at sea, looking at a lonely rowboat adrift on the waves. In the boat sits a one-armed skeleton with a red rag covering his eye: Bob. He rests his chin on his hand despondently. In the distance we see an island, but Bob has no way to get there.
Bob: First, the outpost had no planks.
Panel 2:
The boat continues to drift aimlessly.
Bob: Then, a galleon chased me halfway across the map.
Panel 3:
Bob holds up a broken oar. In the background, the waves are getting choppier and the sky has begun to darken.
Bob: And now my oar's broken.
Bob: Still, at least things can't get any worse.
Panel 4:
Bob's drifted into a thunderstorm. The sky is dark and foreboding. Lightning leaps from the clods, striking Bob's outstretched oar. He is electrocuted.
SFX: KRAK KOOM
It's Bob! Again! Poor Bob.
This is the first in a three-part story, with instalments over the next three weeks to mark Skeleton Crew's first anniversary. Hurrah!
